Kyle F. Coleman is in his ninth year as the Director of Bands at Morton Ranch High School in the Katy Independent School District. He received his Bachelors in Music Education from Sam Houston State University in 1991 and studied under Dr. Gary Sousa, Dr. Fisher Tull, and Rod Cannon.
Prior to his appointment at Morton Ranch High School, Mr. Coleman was the Assistant Director of Bands at Stratford Senior High School in the Spring Branch Independent School District for the previous eighteen years.
Mr. Coleman was a member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Rosemont, Illinois during the 1987 and 1988 seasons and was a member of the percussion section. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Coleman served in various capacities on the TCGC Board of Directors on several different occasions. He held the office of Secretary from 1993-1998, Judge's Coordinator in 1999, and then Vice President and Color Guard Vice President from 2007-2010. He was also an active Ensemble Analysis Judge from 1992-2011. Mr. Coleman has been an active consultant, clinician, and adjudicator for many band and color guard programs in the state of Texas.

Alex Hedden is excited to begin his first year at Morton Ranch as the Assistant Director of Bands. Originally from Georgia, Mr. Hedden graduated with a Bachelor degree in Music Education with a concentration in Saxophone from the University of Georgia.
While at UGA, Mr. Hedden studied saxophone with Connie Frigo and conducting with Jaclyn Hartenberger and Mike Robinson. He performed on baritone with the Redcoat Marching Band and on saxophone with the UGA Wind Symphony and Jazz Band I. Mr. Hedden has also performed with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from 2014-2016 as a member of the Euphonium section.
Most recently, Mr. Hedden student taught with Josh Ray at the nationally acclaimed Harrison High School Band program. He is affiliated with the following professional organizations: TMEA, GMEA, NASA, and CNAfME.

Andrew Barlow is currently the Director of Percussion at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, TX. Andrew recently moved to the Houston area from New York, NY. There he served as a freelance percussionist, drummer, and educator. Broadway touring credits include roles as a Percussionist and the Percussion Manager for the Tony and Emmy Award winning Broadway show Blast! OffBroadway credits include The Golem of Havana and Billy, Goat, Gruff The Musical. Andrew has performed and recorded with Madonna, Kevin Antunes, American Idol's Kimberley Locke, and legendary drum set artist Swiss Chris. Andrew has been involved with the Drum and Bugle Corps activity for over a decade. He has served as a percussion instructor for groups such as The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps , The Cadets2 Drum & Bugle Corps , The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps , The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps, Spirit of America Percussion Ensemble, The Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps , and United Percussion Indoor Percussion Ensemble . In 2015 Andrew was the Battery Percussion Coordinator for Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps from Atlanta, GA. His marching career includes performing with The Cadets , Carolina Crown , and Magic of Orlando. He was also a member of the renowned percussion ensemble Music City Mystique.
During his career, Andrew has studied percussion with Thom Hannum, Dr. Brian Tinkel, Yousif Sheronick, Rolando MoralesMatos, Colin McNutt, Tom Aungst, Ian Hale, Ayano Kataoka, Wes Powers, Michael Moore, and Tony Del Rivero. Andrew pursued a double Masters degree in Percussion Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst . While at UMass he instructed the UMass Minuteman Marching Band, Marimba Ensembles, the MASS Marimba Band, and the Percussion Ensemble. He also holds Bachelor degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina.
Andrew is a member of The Percussive Arts Society, an educational artist for Innovative Percussion Inc . and Pearl/Adams Corporation, and a member of the American Federations of Musicians . Andrew currently resides in Katy, TX with his wife Melissa.

Juan Artavia has been involved in the color guard activity since 2005. His drum corps experience has included time at the GLASSMEN Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007 and 2008, along with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2009 and 2010- he was the color guard captain for both programs and was also the 2010 Drum Corps International Dance I&E Champion. During his winter guard career, Juan was a performer with Code Black winter guard from 2008 - 2009 and a captain with Cypress Independent from 2010 - 2012. He has performed at the Winter Guard International Independent World Class Finals with both groups. As an educator, Juan is in his sixth year as a staff member for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. He is also a clinician, choreographer, and designer for numerous programs throughout the Houston area. Mr. Artavia is in his eighth year as director of the Morton Ranch Color Guard program.
